One of my favorite living composers arranging a song by one of my favorite living songwriters, I feel like Christmas came early

My college’s concert choir (which my roommate is in) just sang this and I was hooked from start to finish, full body chills, crying at the “lift my lamp” part, I immediately looked it up because I wanted to hear it again. One of my favorite poems turned into my new favorite choral song - what America tries to be, and all the strife and chaos along the way. Bravissimo!!!

The choir I sing in, Una Vocce Chamber Choir here in Maine, performed this just last weekend. Opening number, it was a hit! I'll miss singing this, until next time.
